Good easy access for visiting London as the DLR with step-free access is a short distance away. Car park is chargeable but Blue Badge holders are free if you park in one of the bays- that’s if you can get a space. There are about six spaces but one of them is always coned off for deliveries to the hotel. Staff don’t really seem to monitor who is parking in them even though the bays are directly in front of reception. Accessible toilet and easy access bar/restaurant and vending machine on the ground floor. The accessibility in the rooms is ok, quite a lot of room. The emergency pull cord is nowhere near the shower or toilet in the wetroom so if you did have a problem and slipped you would need to make your way to the door to reach the cord. The beds are quite low for transfer.. On the subject of the beds, you can opt to have a double bed or twin bed configuration, as they use a zip and lock system, but be warned that the staff at this hotel seem to struggle somewhat with the idea that disabled people would like to sleep in a double bed. I have twice been told at this hotel that the accessible rooms can only have twin beds because it is a matter of health and safety. It is not. I have challenged this with the CEO Office at Travelodge. I have even tested this by telephoning other Travelodges and it seems it is just this one at London City Airport that has poorly trained and informed staff. Travelodge have assured me extra training has now been given. But do be warned, whichever is your preference, twin or double, don’t be fobbed off by the staff because they cant be bothered to zip or unzip the beds.
