I recently stayed at this brand new hostel and have to say that I was very impressed how up to date in terms of being accessible they are. This is my first review so please bear with me if I do not have all the answers or if certain terms are incorrect due to lack of awareness.

Wheelchair access

In addition to having step-free access to the first floor where there is a dorm room that wheelchair users can use, they also have a fully accessible bathroom including a walk-in shower with a fold-down bench. Navigation is very easy as the first floor is basically an open plan (think of what a firehouse looks like inside the “garage”) where you have access to a few exhibits, an eating area, a common area, and a kitchen. I admit I am unsure whether the kitchen is truly accessible to wheelchair users because I am not familiar with the requirements. They even have an outdoor porch that’s also step-free.

Also for those who are deaf and hard of hearing, (while it does strike me amusing because it is a former firehouse) they do have flashing/strobe smoke/fire alarms inside the dorm room and the common areas. In addition, they do have good WIFI connection for VRS services as well as a computer available (don’t remember seeing a webcam).

I would be very glad to stay here again.
