If you’re going to Barcelona for the first time then I guess the W Hotel is as good a place to stay as any!

A modern hotel, with friendly attentive staff always on hand to assist with any query including arranging for accessible taxis (which were very good).
The rooms were spacious and as you can see, ours had a rather splendid view on opening the (electric!) curtains with just a flick of a switch. The room itself had a roll-in shower. All really accessible rooms had been taken which meant that there was no room to get a chair beside the loo. However, there were two accessible loos on the ground floor, allowing transfer from either the left or right side.

The bars were easily accessible (cough, apparently), and all general areas such as the poolside and health spas could be easily accessed via lifts. There were loungers by the pool as well as sunbeds. These were at an easy height for wheelchair transfers.

The nightclub on the 26th floor had spectacular views of the City, but I felt old enough not to really want to stay! There’s quite a lot of music being played throughout the day, and its mostly chill-out or House stuff (whatever that is).

Its impossible to find anything to dislike really, both in terms of service and accessibility.

We’re definitely going back!
