Yesterday we paid a visit to CafĂ© INDIEpendent. There’s a small play area, which my son rushed into, and my daughter was able to get out of her wheelchair and sit and play on a rug in the same area. This play area has several very comfy settees surrounding it, so parents can sit in comfort while the children play. Pies and bagels currently feature heavily on the menu, and the Saag Pie-Neer which I opted for was absolutely delicious. The staff were more than happy to warm up my daughters toddler meal as well, which we took due to her being on a soft diet. The cafe itself is split onto 3 levels and there are lots of stairs, if you have a child who uses a wheelchair, then there are stair lifts, which we used to get to the disabled toilet which is situated on the top floor. The toilet itself is a standard disabled toilet. There is a sturdy baby change which I managed to change my daughter on. The nearest Changing Places toilet facility is at the Ironstone Centre a couple of minutes walk away. The cafe itself also seems to attract a very tolerant and relaxed clientele, and I have always felt comfortable and at ease there.
